Big Changes to Products & Prices

A big “hello!” to all our friends, family, and fans out there! The Brutal Honesty team is excited to let you know about big changes that have been made to our Product Shop – not just in terms of what products are being offered, but also the retail prices and shipping terms and costs, as well. It’s good news for us and great news for you, our loyal fans and customers!

So what’s new, you ask?

First of all, we have spent the past two months doing a real-time and live-action evaluation of the shipping options we can offer to our customers. We initially went with a “free shipping for all items” option for purchases delivered to U.S.-based customers, but have decided to nix that idea and use the actual shipping costs at the time of purchase, as determined by the production partner responsible for manufacturing and shipping each item. While “free shipping” made it much easier to deal with costs, fees, calculations, and other manually adjusted attributes, it (1) created a higher retail price that was, in some instances, unnecessarily over-inflated simply because the shipping costs vary so wildly from one production partner to another, and (2) had “hidden” increases due to weather, holidays and events, logistics, and other factors that were not made known in advance to us or you. As a result of those two key factors and two months of observation and evaluation, we have now transitioned all our products to a shipping cost that is a real-time and current (as of the time of purchase) calculation and is set by the production partner responsible for doing the actual shipping.

Second, we have made some visual changes to the website, primarily to the category thumbnails used on the main Product Shop page. This is an aesthetic change in the interest of consistency and overall appearance, and does not have an impact on products, prices, operations, or site functionality.

Third, and perhaps most important, as a result of the transition for shipping costs from “free” to actual pricing, all our products have had price adjustments. These price adjustments have all been downward! Some items have even had their retail price dropped by almost half! Great news for you, our friends, family, and fans, and we are super-excited to make these changes to help you get the gear you want and get your message out there for all to see. (And you’re also getting our message out there, too!) This sweeping change to the retail price for all products has given you – our customer – a much better and more realistic cost for all our items. Rather than having to find a middle ground to account for some shipping costs being extremely low and others being extremely high, we’ve done away with incorporating the shipping into the product price, and are now separating the two costs so you pay lower prices and accurate shipping fees.

Fourth, with the holidays and other heading-into-the-new-year festivities behind us, we are now getting down to business with rolling out our email subscription service. This is where you can find the real deals here at Brutal Honesty.
